Great Whittington is an attractive small farming and commuter village in Northumberland, close to Hexham and Corbridge and set in the heart of Northumberland’s farming countryside. In 2010 it won a Gold award in the Northumbria in Bloom Competition confirming that it is one of the best small villages in the local area. In 2011, Great Whittington was one of only four small villages in the whole of the country to make it to the final of Britain in Bloom, where it was awarded Silver Gilt, a fantastic achievement for a first time entry. It is truly a beautiful village and well worth a visit.

The Village Hall 
A committee made up of local people are responsible for the hall, and regularly organise popular events such as 'The Jazz Picnic,' a summer barbeque and the hugely popular Northumbrian Christmas Social Night featuring local comedians and raconteurs! The village itself also has a great record of achievement with the Northumbria in Bloom competition and this year has achieved a GOLD AWARD and runner up best small village.
