Great Whittington is an attractive small farming and commuter village in Northumberland, close to Hexham and Corbridge and set in the heart of Northumberland’s farming countryside. In 2009 it won Silver Gilt in the Northumbria in Bloom Competition confirming that it is one of the best small villages in the local area.

A committee made up of local people are responsible for the hall, and regularly organise popular events such as 'The Jazz Picnic,' a summer barbeque and the hugely popular Northumbrian Christmas Social Night featuring local comedians and raconteurs! The village itself also has a great record of achievement with the Northumbria in Bloom competition. It has won a silver award for the last two years, and plans are in place to involve the community - especially the children - in village gardening activities. Great Whittington is also lucky enough to have a fantastic pub - The Queen's Head Inn. This 17th century coaching inn has an excellent menu including Galloway beef from the farm in the village.
